Buttermilk Pancakes

Want something tasty for breakfast, well these homemade buttermilk pancakes are the ones for you.

Know I am going to admit something here! So please don’t hate me. When I make pancakes I use a pre-mix that just requires you to add water. I know I know I shouldn’t do that but in the mornings I can  be lazy and it is so much easier and they still taste really good.

However, I was good this time and made pancakes from scratch!! YAY ME!

OK, so I should also admit I didn’t just wake up in the morning and decide to make fresh homemade pancakes, or even plan the day before. I had some leftover buttermilk and this recipe was one that required buttermilk, it was a win win.

Quick tip: when you are baking something make sure you know what recipe you are following before you go shopping for the ingredients, because unlike me I got the ingredients and then changed the recipe I was using, meaning I had lots of buttermilk leftover. (But oh well! I always find a way to use leftovers).

So finally, after my little babble there. Here is the recipe for the buttermilk pancakes that I found on BBC Goodfood.

So, of course, this is one of those short blog post. This is because it is a simple recipe to make and of course when it comes to breakfast you don’t want to spend ages slaving away.

One thing I like about this recipes is the use of egg whites. You are using the whole eggs but separating them so you can whip up the whites causing the batter to be light and airy. This makes for the best fluffy pancakes, so you don’t want to miss this step.

There is no limit to what you put on your pancakes. Seriously, there’s probably so many different combinations you can’t even count. But that’s the best part because you can go wild and add what you want. Some of my favourite combinations are apple sauce and caramel, strawberry jam, maple syrup and bacon and finally fresh fruit.  I haven’t actually tried a savoury pancake yet, but I will soon because I have a feeling it could be really good.

Of course, I have to admit that as well as loving these pancakes, I do love french crepes! They are amazing and again you can have any topping you want, sweet or savoury!

If you didn’t know what french crepes are, they are pancakes that are bigger and super thin, and the filling goes in the centre of the pancake and you wrap the pancake around the filling AMAZING!! and because I love these pancakes so much I will be doing a blog on this, something that shows the different topping you can have.

Anyway, I would love if you guys have any crazy or different topping you like on your pancakes or have any ideas that I can include in my next pancake blog. You can either email me at amybakes.94@outlook.com or tweet me @AmyBakes94
